A live gig for Lizzo

Creating a bespoke showstopper that was as Good as Hell.

Arguably one of the best clients in the world, Warner Music NZ invited us to create an intimate but sensational event for the one-and-only Lizzo. We conjured up a tailored venue inspired by the superstar’s body-positive narrative, starting with guests entering through a black carpeted tunnel with her trademark lyrics emblazoned on the walls. The theme – ‘check yourself out’ – was brought to life with slick mirrors and bright disco balls, which added glamour and shimmer to a night filled with star power.

Solution: The challenge here wasn’t about providing entertainment – we knew Lizzo would dial up the levels to new highs. We needed to create a showcase that was true to her larger-than-life character and magnificent vocal talent. It had to support her messages, and we needed to extend the reach of this exclusive concert far beyond the tight confines of the venue.

Our first step was to craft a venue that did justice to Lizzo’s self-love goals and her personality – big energy and sparkling confidence. Next, we wanted to ramp up the impact of this small gig, so we carefully crafted a VIP guestlist of the best and brightest in the music industry to bring the noise back to Lizzo on the night and keep spreading the Lizzo gospel for months afterwards. To help spread these good vibes, we ensured our social media coverage was on point.

It turned cool, seen-it-all music industry insiders into high-energy, wide-eyed teenagers. Even though the gig was physically small, the sights and sounds our team amplified with technology and talent were greater our than any large-scale concert.
