The challenge

With over 300 partners and an ever-changing number of ways to earn and redeem points, the Qantas Frequent Flyer Program is difficult to navigate even for those in the know. To keep existing members engaged as well as continuing to recruit new members, Qantas needed to start a dialogue with consumers, helping them better understand their loyalty membership.

The idea 

Bring Qantas Loyalty's online presence to life by turning 'clicks to bricks'. To create an engaging retail experience for travellers, Because Australia partnered with the Qantas Loyalty team to create the Qantas Rewards Room, an experiential pop-up store at Melbourne Airport.

The solution

The store invites travellers to ‘browse, shop and learn’ and showcases 


various aspects of the Qantas Loyalty Program, proving that the iconic Australian brand is about more than just air travel. The Rewards Room acts as a retail showroom, showcasing a range of products and partner brands associated with the loyalty program, including some exclusive Qantas merchandise which can be purchased in-store and conveniently delivered to a customer's door. To surprise and delight travellers, an Experience Zone features partner brands like Dyson, offering up a free blow-dry bar for those looking for a deeper engagement.

Making it extraordinary 

The opportunity for members to have a face-to-face discussion around maximising their points-earning potential is extremely valuable. Extensively trained store staff are on-hand to tailor advice to members on points earning and burning or on making the most of their Qantas Frequent Flyer membership including how to “double dip” points.
