The challenge

Amazon’s Alexa is a talented, connected concierge that can DJ your life, take traffic out of your commute, and even help you dress correctly for the weather. ‘She’s’ now in more than 100 million homes around the world, but the real kicker: we’re only scratching the surface of her potential. This modern-day oracle can integrate with other brands and technology, and she has plenty of Skills that customers don’t know about or don’t know how to use (the Skills are her built-in voice capabilities). And that’s where the challenge comes in: Amazon asked the Because team in Australia to showcase the incredible Alexa Skills, and tremendous potential of voice technology.

The idea

To show the true potential and power of the Alexa skills, the Because team partnered up with eight of the biggest, most popular, ANZ brands in a campaign called ‘Give Your Brand a Voice’. These eight pioneering brands had already recruited Alexa successfully in their campaigns, so it was a matter of sharing their secrets of success. We needed to convey to everyone how they could utilise and benefit from using these Skills in their day-to-day lives, from individual customers through to the biggest brands.


We directed and shot interviews with multiple brand partners from different industries, capturing their innovative approaches, from the


ideation, to technical training, conceptualisation, development, barriers along the way, launches, and finally the impact it’s had on their business.

The videos series shared how these brands have truly embraced the power of voice technology. Several of the films each focused on a specific brand: Huggies, Coca-Cola (Aus), Blind Low Vision New Zealand, Fox Sports, Nova, Kinderling Kids Radio, Taste (FoodCorp) and AGL; while a final film was a ‘hero’ compilation that showcased them all together. The series is being featured on Amazon B2B channels, at events, and on industry channels such as B&T and Mumbrella. The best part about this series? It not only shared success secrets, but it also provided inspiration and future-forward strategies from leading companies across ANZ.


Amazon Alexa’s ‘Give Your Brand a Voiceseries shows how vast the opportunity for both brands and customers is when it comes to voice technology. There’s no doubt Alexa is revolutionising the way people live, but it’s also allowing brands to reimagine how they connect with their consumers.
